Episode 16: Korean Tongue Twisters!
안녕하세요! 마가리타입니당~!
It's time to warm up your mouths and jaws because this week I've got some pretty tough tongue twisters for you all! I've noticed that we haven't gone over pronunciation in a while so I decided to throw something new at you all and practice some Korean tongue twisters!
Tongue twisters are a great way to improve pronunciation and learn some new vocab!
1. 간장공장 공장장은 장공장장이고, 된장공장 공장장은 공공장장이다.
Factory manager Jang is soy sauce factory manger and factory manager Kong is soy bean paste factory manager.
간장- soy sauce
공장- factory
장- manager
된장- soy bean paste
이고 --> 이다 (to be) --> (to be + and)
2. 내가 그린 기린 그림은 잘 그린 기린 그림이고, 네가 그린 기린 그림은 잘 못 그린 기린 그림이다.
Picture of a giraffe drawn by me is a well drawn giraffe picture and picture of a giraffe drawn by you is a badly drawn giraffe picture.
내가- I (mine)
네가- you (yours)
그린--> 그리다 (to draw) -- (drawn)
기린- giraffe
그림- drawing
잘- well/good
잘 못- not well/bad
3. 칠월 칠일은 평창 친구 친정 칠순 잔칫날.
7th of July is the day of the 70th birthday celebration of a friend from Pyeongchang in a married woman's house... (I'm sorry guys, I tried ^^)
칠- 7
월- month
일- day
칠월- July
평창- Pyeongchang (city in Korea)
친구- friend
치정- married woman's parents' house (?)
칠순- 70th birthday
잔칫날- celebration day
