I am so excited about this, which is incredibly surprising. If there's one thing you guys should know about me is that I despise running. Like seriously, I hate it with a passion. So for me to be excited about a 5K run is pretty much unbelievable. However, the fact that I get to roll around in colourful paint and have buckets of it dumped on me, makes the running a little bit more bearable.
What I loved the most about the Colour Run was that the experience started way before the actual day of the run. My friends and I registered around a month in advance and we got our Colour Run packages a few weeks later. I was actually the last one who received my package so I spent 2 days dying to find out what will be in my goody package when my friends already knew! My boyfriend and I also bought matching Colour Run sunglasses cause we're full of cheese like that :3 So this whole preparation period brought a little bit of excitement into our exams-filled life at the time.
The coolest part was when I walked into the tube station I instantly noticed people in Colour Run t-shirts and I don't live anywhere near the area where the event took place. It felt great to see people of all ages coming along with entire families participating. The Colour Run is basically as much of a friends' event as it is a family/couple/individual event, which is great.
For all you who hate running as much as I do, don't worry because, guess what? You DO NOT have to run. No one is going to force you or look down at you if you don't run. I saw 80 year old grandmas taking a stroll through all 5 colour points and having the time of their life, as well as kids of all ages just running around, not caring about the direction of the run (poor parents of those kids haha). Seriously, this was so liberating because no one cared about how well or fast you run, it was all about fun and joy. Also, an additional point that made me feel even better about participating is that the money raised from this event goes to charity.
Basically, what I'm saying is.... take your friends/family/boyfriend or girlfriend/anyone really and DO IT! Celebrate the summer vibes with colourful paint, good music and awesome atmosphere! I don't know if I'll do it next year but it was definitely one of the highlights of my time here in London!
